Swimming group launches a weekly programme, offering lessons for all skill levels
Members of the LGBTQ+ community are invited to join the next six-week swimming programme with LGBT Swim Dublin’s “Splash Out,” a lesson group catering to all skill levels, since 2022.
The upcoming series kicks off at Swan Leisure in Rathmines, Dublin 6, on Wednesday, 2 April, at 8 p.m., running weekly until the course ends. Priced at €60 for six weeks, participants can choose from three groups: beginners, improvers, or intermediate.
“Book the skill level closest to your ability, as it’s not possible to switch after registering,” the organisers advise.
Each group is led by a coach trained as a lifeguard. The beginner group, designed for non-swimmers, stays in shallow water. “They won’t be out of their depth,” Splash Out assures.

The “improver” group suits those less confident in the water, also remaining in shallow areas. Intermediate swimmers, however, should manage 50 metres of front and backstroke and feel at ease in deeper water.
For advanced swimmers, LGBT Swim Dublin offers a separate group at Sean McDermott Street Pool, in Dublin 1. “This is for those who can swim 200 metres of front, back, and breaststroke,” the organisation explains, noting that their intermediate sessions there are also more challenging than at Swan Leisure.
Join “Splash Out” for six weeks of swimming lessons, with beginner to advanced groups at its Rathmines venue. Spaces are limited, so the LGBT swimming group urges early sign-ups to secure a spot.
Please note that the lessons will take a two break for Easter. The dates of the lessons are: 2nd April, 9th April., 30th April, 7th May, 14th May, and the 21st May 2025.
