Napalm in the Heart was presented in Dublin by Catalan writer Pol Guasch
The Instituto Cervantes in Dublin hosted the event featuring Guasch, widely regarded as one of the most promising voices in contemporary Catalan literature.
Guasch discussed his award-winning novel “Napalm en el corazón”, which he wrote at 24 years old, translated into English as “Napalm in the Heart” (Faber, 2024).
Accompanied by Brazilian-Irish poet Rafael Mendes, the conversation explored themes such as identity, memory, exile, and the richness of languages, all present in Guasch’s Pol’s novel.
Pol’s work is ‘one of the best books of the year’ according to The New Yorker, which highlights that it is about a “gay love story amid occupation, exile, and multilingualism”. The book’s film rights have also been sold for an adaptation.
