gaydublintours Gay Dublin Tours FAQ

21

why do say they are no conventional tours?

We do not offer conventional short walking tours. Fourteen of our seventeen tours are designed to help you fully appreciate Dublin throughout the day. Our main purpose is to immerse you in an authentic local full-day experience, walking and commuting in the city.

01

how long the tours last?

All our Day | Premium Tours and Outdoor | Premium Tours are tailored to fully appreciate the city along the day; some last 7 hours, others even 9 hours.

We don't offer conventional short walking tours. Our main purpose is to immerse you into a real local long-day experience while walking and commuting in the city.

Mostly, our Day and Outdoor tours start at 9 am. Our Night | Premium Tours last 4 hours and they start at 6:30 pm.

Our Standard Tours are the exception, they are made to know a specific area of the city in just 3 or 4 hours.

02

how many people can attend them?

Up to three people per tour for our Premium Tours.

We specialise in solo travellers and couples, accepting no more than three people to ensure a personal experience and avoid crowded groups.

We aim to maintain the same atmosphere for our Standard Tours, though we can make exceptions for groups of up to ten people. Our Standard Tours require a minimum of one attendee.

how much do they cost?

03

Our prices start at €25 per person for our Standard Tours, which last 3 or 4 hours. We offer group discounts only for Standard Tours.

Our Premium Tours, the rest of our offerings, have higher rates because they last up to 9 hours and include coffee breaks, lunch or dinner, drinks, and tickets for the train, tram, or bus. Most of them have stops at buildings or museums that charge for admission.  You have two options to book them: Saver and Upgrade.

You can review our catalogue for detailed information on how much you’ll pay for your chosen tour.

18

what is the difference between Saver and Upgrade options in Day tours?

The only difference is your lunch.

If you book the Saver option, you’ll enjoy a toastie and a canned soft drink in a local café. If you book the Upgrade option, you’ll have lunch in a local bistro or gastropub, with more meal options, including a glass of house wine or a pint of beer or cider.

Everything else offered on the tour remains the same for both options: a coffee break, tickets for buildings and museums (where applicable), and transport by bus, tram, or train are included.

04

why should I book with Gay Dublin Tours?

When you book with us, you get more than a conventional tour.

We are an all-in-one, truly personalised option for your Dublin visit.

We are:

  • a trip mentor,
  • a gastronomic adviser,
  • a budget planner,
  • a guide to historical insights,
  • a photography assistant,
  • and a city walking expert.

Think of us as an old friend you’re visiting—the one who moved to Dublin years ago and is keen to show you the city they now call home.

05

do you give discounts?

Yes, we offer 10% off coupons for all first-time Premium Tour bookings. If you take a second Premium Tour in the same week, you get 12% off.

Discount coupons are not available for Standard Tours, though reduced prices apply when five or more people book.

06

how do I claim my coupon?

Complete the online forms provided at the end of each tour brief and tick the box labelled First-time booking?

Consult our catalogue for details or visit the Day, Night, or Outdoor pages.

07

are drinks and food included?

They’re included in all our Premium Tours. All our Day and Outdoor Tours offer a coffee break (a regular-sized chocolate, coffee, or tea, and a pastry in a local café) during the first few hours.

Our Day | Premium Tours have two options: Saver and Upgrade. In both options, you’ll have lunch. The Saver lunch is limited to a toastie and a non-alcoholic drink in a local café. The Upgrade lunch offers a wider meal selection with a glass of wine (or a pint) in a bistro or gastropub.

The Saver lunch option is not available for our Outdoor Tours.
All our Night | Premium Tours start with dinner. You’ll enjoy a meal in a non-mainstream local pub or bistro, with options including hamburgers, sambos (sandwiches), pizzas, and starters (chips, wings, etc.). You can order a pint with your dinner. Additionally, you’ll enjoy three more pints throughout the night, with stops at selected pubs tailored to your chosen tour.

*Standard Tours have no options for food or drinks.

*Read our booking terms and conditions for details.

what else can I get from the tours?

And remember: food, drinks, tickets to buildings and museums, and transport by bus, tram, or train are included.

12

where is the meeting point for tours?

Unless prior arrangements are made, our tours commence in front of the Jim Larkin Statue (O’Connell Street, Dublin 1), a few steps from the Spire and the General Post Office (GPO).

The meeting point may be adjusted to another location or your hotel reception if it is close to the city centre and does not substantially affect the itinerary. In such cases, we may require you to be ready ten or fifteen minutes before the scheduled start time.s.

13

I am not gay but I'd really like to take this tour. May I make a booking?

Absolutely, you can!  Everyone is welcome on our tours.

15

what is the Braliem Jousc Archive?

All photographs on our website and social media come from Braliem Jousc’s personal archive.

He is a former journalist based in Dublin, after 25 years in Latin America writing articles for newspapers and magazines about arts, history, and architecture.

Now, he spends his days walking around and photographing Dublin. Braliem has dedicated the past four years to documenting the city with his old yet loyal and beloved Canon camera.

Fascinated—perhaps obsessed—by photographs from the 18th and early 19th centuries, he has curated and processed images of buildings, streets, and places from his collection to make them look as if they were taken over a century ago or to give them a vintage touch that reminds him of the 1970s and 1980s, when he got his first camera.

With this photo archive and his background, he has tailored all the itineraries at Gay Dublin Tours and also hosts tours. His project is to process 3 terabytes of pictures, classify them, and create a website to provide public access to the archive

So far, there are some photographs on our website, but new equipment, an external hard drive for storage, and a professional web hosting service are required for this ambitious photo project.
