what is the difference between Saver and Upgrade options in Day tours?

The only one difference is what you get for lunch.

You will eat a toestie and a soft or canned drink in a local café if you book the Saver option. If you book the Upgrade option you will have lunch in a local bistro or gastropub, where you will find more options for your meal, having a glass of wine from the houses, or a pint of Guinness.

Everything else offered in the tour remains the same for both options: coffee break, tickets for buildings and museum (when applied), and to take buses, the tram or a train are included as well.

11

may I book a tour on a different date that is assigned for?

We only offer one tour per day during the morning; and one tour by night, daily.  It is possible to take a tour on a different date only if there is no booking confirmed yet for the date you request.

Here there is an example on how this option works.

The Extreme Book Lovers tour is scheduled on Thursdays, let's say 7 December 2024. You can take it any other day (Tuesday 6 or Saturday 9) if no one has confirmed the assigned tour of the day (Heritage/Becoming a Republic for Tuesdays, or Grand Canal & Royal Canal for Saturdays).

Based on the same system, you can swap between Day and Weekend tours because all of them are scheduled between 8 am to 6 pm. It is important to send your booking request with at least 3 work days in advance to check opening times and tickets availability for the buildings and museums listed in the tour. If it is possible to organise the tour on a different day, we will let you know, so you can continue with your booking by sending you the link to make a donation that will cover all expenses for your tour.

Be advised that Night tours are only offered from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. You can not take them earlier. Let us know if you want to book one on a different date that is assigned for and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Our Seasonal tours are only available on Mondays at two different times of the day: 10 am and 2 pm. There is no chance to take them another day but you can request any of them rather than the season that they are assigned for, if there is no booking confirmed yet for the date you request. There are just two Seasonal tours our 2024 catalogue: Temple Bar Beyond Temple Bar (March to June) and Mapping O'Connell Street (August to February).

12

where is the meeting point for tours?

Except for other arrangements, our tours start in front of the General Postal Office (GPO) building, on O'Connell Street, Dublin 1.

*The meeting point can be another place or the reception of your hotel if it is nearby to the city centre and does not dramatically change the itinerary. To make it possible, maybe you will be requested to be ready for the meeting 10 or 15 minutes earlier than the tour starts.

what is the Braliem Jousc Archive?

All pictures on our website and Instagram come from Braliem Jousc’s personal photograph archive.

He is a former journalist based in Dublin City after 25 years in Latin America writing articles for newspapers and magazines about arts, history and architecture.

Now, he spends the days walking around photographing Dublin. Braliem has dedicated the last 4 years documenting the city with his old but loyal and beloved Canon camera. As someone fascinated (maybe obsessed) by the pictures from the 18th and early 19th centuries, he has cured and processed pictures of buildings, streets and places from his collection to make them look like they were taken more than 100 years ago, or give them that vintage touch that reminds him the 70s and 80s, when he got his first photo camera.

With this photo archive and his background he has tailored all the itineraries at Gay Dublin Tours, hosting tours as well. His project is to process 3 terabytes of pictures, classify them and create a website to make the public access to the archive. So far there are some pictures on this website but new equipment, an external hard drive for storage, and a professional hosting service website are required for this ambitious photo project.
